Help Amplify the Voices of Iranian Women and Youth for Freedom

Iran has the highest execution rate per capita in the world. Over the past five months alone, 670 executions have been carried out, including 33 women. These executions are part of a brutal crackdown designed to suppress uprisings, with the most recent occurring in September 2022.

The enforcement of the Hijab and Chastity Law further escalates the oppression of women, while severe social crises and poverty plague the country—80% of Iranians live below the poverty line despite Iran’s vast oil wealth.

In an age of global communication, severe censorship and repression inside and outside Iran have silenced the voices of its people, leaving their cries for freedom unheard.

APA-ICE’s Advocacy Efforts

The Alliance for Public Awareness (APA-ICE), representing 300 associations across Europe, works to amplify the voices of the Iranian people through meetings, demonstrations, and human rights campaigns.

A key part of APA-ICE’s mission is sharing up-to-date information on human rights violations in Iran. This includes providing international organizations with reports on executions, prison conditions, and protests by workers, nurses, farmers, and ethnic and religious minorities, such as Baluchis and Kurds, all obtained and broadcast via Simaye Azadi.

Simaye Azadi: Breaking Censorship

To achieve this, APA collaborates with Simaye Azadi, a 24-hour Persian-language satellite TV network operating via six satellites with extensive coverage in Iran and the Middle East. Supported by hundreds of reporters across 32 provinces, Simaye Azadi plays a critical role in breaking the regime’s censorship.

Since its establishment in 1997, Simaye Azadi (INTV) has become a vital platform for exposing human rights violations, amplifying the voices of the oppressed, and connecting Iranians inside the country with those in the diaspora. By broadcasting protests, campaigns, and solidarity messages, the network has united Iranians across the globe, empowering those fighting for justice, freedom, and democracy.

About the Hamyari Telethon

The Hamyari Telethon, taking place from January 17–19, 2025, is the primary fundraiser for Simaye Azadi. Entirely funded by public contributions, the telethon showcases the remarkable solidarity of Iranians and their supporters, who contribute despite personal hardships. These donations sustain the network’s critical mission to break censorship and provide a voice for the silenced.

How Are Costs Covered?
The costs of operating satellites, reporters, and maintaining the network are significant. However, these expenses are entirely covered by contributions from Iranians inside and outside Iran, as well as supporters worldwide. Last year’s telethon raised $7.05 million and successfully funded the network’s operations for the year.
