From November 14 to 16, 2024, Iranian communities worldwide came together in 40 cities across 16 countries to mark the fifth anniversary of the November 2019 uprising. This global initiative honored the memory of over 1,500 protesters killed during the regime’s violent crackdown and called for solidarity with the ongoing fight for freedom in Iran.
Cities Hosting Protests
Demonstrations were held in cities including Paris, Stockholm, Cologne, Oslo, Gothenburg, Vienna, The Hague, Bremen, Stuttgart, Copenhagen, Hanover, Essen, Düsseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt, Melbourne, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Geneva, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, San Francisco, Berlin, Brussels, Sydney, Aarhus, and Malmö.
In Europe, cities such as Brussels, Amsterdam, Geneva, and Paris hosted rallies on November 16, where participants condemned the regime’s crimes and expressed support for the resilience of the Iranian people.
Germany saw widespread protests on November 15 and 16, with large gatherings in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hanover, Essen, and Munich. Demonstrators highlighted the regime’s human rights violations and honored the victims of the uprising.
Rallies in Copenhagen and Aarhus emphasized global solidarity with the Iranian resistance, while events in Lugano and Oslo paid tribute to the martyrs of 2019. Additional protests took place in Vienna, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Bremen, and other cities across Europe.
In Australia, demonstrators gathered in Melbourne and Sydney to voice their support for Iran’s freedom movement.
In London, Iranian expatriates commemorated the lives lost during the protests, calling for accountability from international institutions and an end to the regime’s oppression. Vienna hosted a similar rally, where participants denounced the Iranian government’s crimes and demanded justice.
