Marcin Swiecicki, Member of Parliament from Poland
Dear Iranian friends, I come from Poland, from the country that lived under communist regime for more than 40 years and there were very few people in Poland believing that this regime could come to an end. There was secret and open police. There was military, administration; system was oppressive, but there were brave people with imagination who organize workers movement, solidarity, and this movement, despite repressions, despite martial law, won the cities’ communist and brought freedom, democracy, and rule of law to Poland. I do believe that you can have the same.
We had our leader of opposition and solidarity. You have Maryam Rajavi, a great leader. We had all the nice movement that had prepared program how to make change. You have your National Council of Resistance of Iran that also seems to be preparing for change. There will be no chaos. There will be transition to democracy and rule of law.
I come here for the first time; two years ago, I could still imagine that there were moderate people in Iran ready for dialog, that you can make business with them. After recent months, after all this persecutions, they are not ready even to have a dialogue with their own society. Instead of dialogue, they are sending them to prisons, torturing them and killing them. So it is time to drop illusions and to organize support for the Iranian opposition.
U.S. and EU should coordinate their support for Iranian resistance and to prepare and to help to bring a change. I am sure that you will win and that Iran will be free democratic country ruled by law. I wish this from the bottom of my heart.
