Phillip Crowley: I am not an optimist about the nuclear agreement

Phillip Crowley, Assistant Secretary of State from 2009 to 2011 and former senior director of public affairs for the United States National Security Council and Special Assistant to the President for national security affairs, addressed the panel on “Crisis in the Middle East, Prospects and Solutions“, Paris, 8 July 2016.

Phillip Crowley in part said, “I am not an optimist about the nuclear agreement… it does not solve a lot of things but I think it is going to make life more complicated for the Iranian regime… it is going to raise expectations of aspirations of the Iranian people and that ultimately is our joint hope that the Iranian people can put such pressure on the regime creating a dynamic that will ultimately the Iranian regime will not be able to control or contain.”
